EMDR

I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and may incorporate EMDR therapy into treatment when it is an appropriate fit for a client’s needs and goals. EMDR is an evidence-based therapy commonly used to help individuals process traumatic experiences, distressing memories, PTSD symptoms, anxiety, and other experiences that continue to feel emotionally overwhelming or difficult to move past.

EMDR can help reduce the emotional intensity and distress associated with difficult memories and experiences by supporting the brain’s natural processing of information. Rather than requiring clients to repeatedly describe every detail of a traumatic experience, EMDR uses a structured approach that may include bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements, to support the processing of distressing experiences.

My approach to EMDR is trauma-informed and person-centered, meaning I prioritize safety, trust, collaboration, and your individual pace throughout the process. EMDR may be incorporated alongside other therapeutic approaches, including CBT, Narrative Therapy, and other evidence-based strategies, depending on what best supports your goals. EMDR therapy may be helpful for trauma and PTSD, anxiety, grief and loss, negative beliefs about yourself, and other experiences that continue to affect how you feel, think, or function in the present.
