Substance Use & Substance Prevention
I provide compassionate, person-centered counseling for individuals navigating substance use, substance misuse, or concerns about their relationship with alcohol or other substances. I also work with individuals who want to prevent substance use from becoming a larger concern, explore patterns of use, or make intentional changes before reaching a crisis point.
I am trained and certified in Motivational Interviewing (MI), an evidence-based approach that helps clients explore their own reasons for change without judgment, pressure, or shame. My approach is trauma-informed and person-centered, recognizing that substance use can be connected to stress, coping, relationships, life experiences, and other underlying factors. When appropriate, I may also incorporate Narrative Therapy to help clients examine the stories and beliefs they have developed about themselves, their substance use, and their ability to create change.
Whether you are questioning your substance use, working toward reducing or changing your use, navigating recovery, or simply looking for prevention-focused support, therapy can provide a space to better understand your patterns, build healthier coping strategies, and make choices that align with the life you want.
